The Research Specialist will conduct experiments on their own research projects and help other members of the laboratory conducted and analyze experiments. The laboratory is part of the Division of Cardiology and the Vascular Medicine Institute.
The successful candidate will take part in translational research studying epigenetic mechanisms regulating vascular cell identity and plasticity in various human-related cardiovascular diseases. The incumbent will have the opportunity to work independently as well as assist lab members with the design and planning of protocols, and conducting molecular, cloning, and cell biology experiments. The incumbent will be required to handle mice, including breeding and genotyping, as well as assisting with in vivo animal experiments.
Expertise in cellular biology (cell culture, transfection), molecular biology (PCR, RNA extraction), and biochemistry (protein extraction, Western Blot) would be a significant advantage for the candidate. The successful candidate will be self-motivated, passionate, organized, have good interpersonal and leadership skills, have excellent verbal and written English skills, and have a solid base of knowledge of advanced scientific principles.
BA/BS in Biological Science or in related fields is highly recommended or the substitution of equivalent combination of education and experience. A minimum 1-2 year experience in laboratory research with knowledge of biologic science and acceptable scientific research training, prior experience in animal research required.
