GAME DEVELOPER (UNITY), LEARNING LOOPS , Media Lab-Laboratory for Social Machines (LSM) , to join a group that helps develop children's communication and storytelling skills. The Learning Loops program, and its educational storytelling game, StoryBlocks , aims to promote creative expression, literacy development, and social-emotional development through storytelling. Responsibilities include designing, prototyping, implementing, and evolving features for the StoryBlocks app by writing new and modifying existing C# code and Unity project elements; troubleshooting and debugging programs; performing unit test programs and participating in production support; sharing knowledge and best-practices via documentation/wikis/workshops; helping shape technical direction and engineering process and providing input on major elements of the project; conducting some consumer-facing work; and performing other duties as assigned.
The position is ideal for an engineer who enjoys collaborating as much as coding and working in an environment of continual iteration and improvement.
Job Requirements REQUIRED : bachelor's degree in game design, computer science, engineering, or related field; three years' professional game application development and design experience; working knowledge of the Unity game development stack, from server to client; experience developing, instrumenting, debugging, optimizing, and launching a mobile game (iOS and/or Android) using Unity and C# and Python; experience organizing and prioritizing software development tasks; desire to learn new technologies and build delightful user experiences; and ability to both work independently and collaborate with other project team members. PREFERRED : experience with UI/UX design for games and creating in-game animations, integrating with backend APIs, human-centered design/user needs analysis, and working on education-focused software projects/products.
