Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey is seeking a motivated Temporary Research Assistant for the Department of Medicine-Hematology/Oncology within the New Jersey Medical School. The primary purpose of the Temporary Part-Time Research Assistant is to assist the Principal Investigator and Study Coordinator, and their research group in research on persons who abuse drugs. The Temporary Part-Time Research Assistant will assist in data collection and analysis, obtaining consent from and interviewing study subjects, coordinating with collaborating drug treatment centers, revising and editing survey instruments, editing manuscripts, and related research and administrative tasks.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
Assists in review, quality control, and analysis of study data, using both Microsoft Excel and SAS® Software. This includes some or all of merging data, examining data for consistency, cleaning datasets, and running and creating summary data reports.
Collects or assists in collection of data from participating drug treatment centers.
Revises and edits survey instruments in collaboration with the Principal Investigator, Study Coordinator, and other research staff.
Assists in coordinating activities with participating drug treatment centers.
Edits or drafts manuscripts, IRB protocols, and other documents in collaboration with the Principal Investigator, Study Coordinator, and other research staff.
Works in conjunction with collaborators.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Currently enrolled undergraduate or graduate student at an accredited college or university in biology, public health, biomedical science, premedical studies, or a related field, or completion of undergraduate or postgraduate degree in such a field.
Previous experience as a research assistant on cohort studies of drug users is required.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Must have excellent writing and communication skills.
Must be computer literate and have working knowledge of Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Must have New Jersey driver's license.
Flexibility of hours is an asset.
Having own auto with insurance.
Knowledge of SAS® Software.
