THIS IS NOT AN H1- B OPPORTUNITY ResponsibilitiesUnder general supervision, the Staff Research Associate I provides technical, scientific, and organizational assistance support in operation of the laboratory research activities focused on regenerative medicine and gene therapy in translational models. Assist and support studies focusing on stem cell and gene therapy. Additionally, the Staff Research Associate I works closely with their immediate supervisor and other laboratory personnel; assist in the collection, entry and analysis of data, processing and storing cell and tissue samples, and conducting laboratory procedures according to established protocols. Required Qualifications
Experience working in a research laboratory in the areas of Animal Science, Animal Biology, Molecular Biology, or related research fields involving animal models.
Experience with computer applications for transcribing raw data and entering and analyzing sample/research results.
Experience in performing laboratory techniques and analyzing products using different types of analytical systems.
Mathematical skills to prepare detailed written data summaries.
Experience with translational research.
Knowledge of chemicals and requirements for safe handling procedures. Skills to follow specific protocols for data collection and follow Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) standards.
Experience working in a laboratory and with concepts, principles, and conduct of research.
Bachelor's Degree in related scientific discipline.
Communication and interpersonal skills to confer and relate tactfully and with professionalism with other laboratory personnel.
Analytical skills to follow protocols, troubleshoot problems, and prepare medium and solutions.
Knowledge of safety regulations, reporting requirements, record keeping and disposal of chemicals and radioactive chemicals.
Knowledge of purchasing procedures; skills to maintain purchasing records and chemical inventories; and to store and organize in appropriate locations. Knowledge of radioactive agents and chemicals and their safe handling procedures.
Knowledge of laboratory safety and proper use, handling, monitoring, measurement and disposal of radioisotopes, carcinogens, and biohazardous substances.
Ability to use scientific terminology.
Strict attention to detail.
Work irregular hours (early mornings, early evening, and/or weekends, as needed).
Work is performed in a fast-paced research environment where the incumbent must be able to work independently under supervision in completing daily and weekly assignments.
Work occasional overtime including some weekends and holidays.
