About the Position: University Advancement serves Cal State Fullerton by building and strengthening relationships with the communities we serve to encourage advocacy, investment and support of the University, its mission, goals and programs in support of student and alumni success. The Central Development team advances the university's work by generating private financial support for the institution. We are seeking an exceptional individual to join our team as the Assistant to the Assistant Vice President, Central Development (Administrative Analyst/Specialist-Non-Exempt). Reporting to the Associate Vice President for Central Development, the Assistant to the Assistant Vice President (AVP), Central Development will perform day-to-day administrative, analytical, technical and operational duties for the AVP and oversee a vast array of administrative and operational functions in support of the Central Development department including: organize, prepare and prioritize communications and the schedule of the AVP. Plan and oversee AVP events for Central Development including annual retreats, quarterly, monthly and weekly meetings. Plan and executes donor meetings and events as necessary. Analyzes and supports the annual budget for the Central Development department. Under the direction of management, provides lead oversight to other department staff on university, division and department policies and procedures. Provides monthly budget updates and reports. Other duties as assigned.
Bachelors degree from an accredited four-year college or university and/or the equivalent training and administrative work experience involving the study, analysis, evaluation, development or improvement of administrative policies, procedures, practices or programs. Working knowledge of the general practices, program or administrative specialty. Basic knowledge of and the ability to apply fundamental concepts. Working knowledge of budget policies and procedures. Ability to learn, interpret, and apply a wide variety of policies and procedures relating to and impacting the applicable program, organizational unit or administrative specialty. Knowledge of and the ability to apply basic methods and procedures used for research and statistical analysis. Ability to analyze data and make accurate projections using business mathematics and basic statistical techniques. Ability to make independent decisions, exercise sound judgment, handle multiple priorities, and organize and plan work assignments. Ability to compile, write, and present reports related to program or administrative specialty. Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships.
A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily and is required for employment. CSU will make a conditional offer of employment, which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information, and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the continued employment of a current CSU employee who was conditionally offered the position.
3-5 years of experience as an assistant to a senior administrator or operational experience working in a higher level management office. Ability to demonstrate high quality customer service. Experience in operating independently with a very high degree of self-direction and initiative required. Strong organizational and analytical skills. Ability to show professionalism reflective of the needs and concerns of the AVP. Ability to understand problems from a broader perspective and anticipate the impact of office administration and provide solutions. Working knowledge of Windows Office based software and proficiency in the use of general office equipment. Experience leading or overseeing the work of others. Flexibility to work night and weekend events. Experience working with donors and in a higher education setting.
