UC Berkeley Extension is the continuing education branch of the University of California, Berkeley. Extension offers more than 2,000 courses per year in a variety of subjects both online and in the classroom. Extension's administrative departments and units include student records (transcripts), registration, scheduling, international student services, facilities, financial services, and the cashier's office. In addition to the main Berkeley center, it has responsibility for the maintenance and operation of regional centers in San Francisco (Spear Street), and Belmont and other leased facilities in the San Francisco Bay Area.
The Academic Recruiter leads recruiting and search efforts for instructors and subject matter expert roles to support UC Berkeley Extension programs in technology, user experience, entrepreneurship, design thinking, and other academic areas. This position will serve as a subject matter expert in the areas of advertising and talent attraction, candidate sourcing, recruiting, and hiring. Must have the ability to develop strong talent pools of candidates, facilitate candidate progression through the selection process, and manage all stages of a search, including offer extension and negotiation.
Requires in-depth knowledge of and ability to apply/interpret campus and college policies and procedures which govern academic HR.
Excellent critical and innovative thinking and problem-solving skills to address complex issues and present nuanced analyses.
Thorough knowledge of system wide and campus policies, union contracts, procedures and practices that govern academic HR administration.
Thorough knowledge of campus and college goals, priorities and values and the legal and human implications of decisions.
Ability to analyze complex management issues; develop project scope and solutions, give professional advice to senior officials and make critical decisions regarding personnel.
Proven ability to conduct recruitment need assessments and tp provide guidance and input on candidate screening, interviewing, and selection processes.
Effective verbal/written communication and interpersonal skills.
Proven ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume, deadline-driven environment.
Proficiency with productivity platforms (including Google Suite) and CRM platforms such as Salesforce.
Proficiency with recruiting and sourcing platforms such as LinkedIn Recruiter, Indeed, ZipRecruiter.
Bachelors degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training.
Licenses or certifications, if any:
Valid CA Drivers' license and ability to travel, either using own vehicle, or University's.
Experience as recruiter in the technology industry.
Experience as academic recruiter in higher education.
Salary & Benefits
This is an exempt, monthly paid position. Annual salary is commensurate with experience.
