The University is seeking a qualified Research Technician. The Research Technician will work closely with the principal investigator (PI) to develop targeted therapeutic approaches for KRAS mutant NSCLC and understand the role of the basic helix-loop-helix transcription factor TWIST1 in oncogene driven NSCLC. In addition, they will be involved in exploring mechanisms of acquired resistance to EGFR and ERK inhibitors in EGFR and KRAS mutant NSCLC.
The ideal candidate should possess a B.S. or B.A. in biochemistry, chemistry, or biology from an accredited college or university and have an understanding and experience with standard molecular biology, cell biology and tissue culture methods. This position will entail significant mouse work and the candidate should have at least two years of mouse work experience and expertise in breeding, husbandry, genotyping as well as xenograft treatment experiments. Prior experience with IV and orthotopic injections is preferred. Prior experience and familiarity with PCR amplification, plasmid preparation, DNA/RNA isolation and purification, restriction digestion, Northern blotting, microscopy, immunohistochemistry and Western blotting is requested.
This position will also be responsible for: - Maintaining clones, antibody and sample inventories, data collection and entry, and ordering supplies - Assisting and supervising support staff along with experiments as the need arises - Keeping complete and understandable records in a laboratory notebook is required - Monitoring the handling, storage and disposal of hazardous substances
This position is located at the Hillman Cancer Center, Research Pavilion for Dr. Timothy Burns.
Positions involves small animal studies as well as tissue culture based experiments. Bachelors Degree in Life Sciences is required, however, relevant experience is acceptable if coursework and skills include small animal anatomy & physiology, animal handling, animal surgery, animal anesthesia and sterile procedures. AALACS certification is a plus. Should have some experience with DNA, RNA and protein analysis (Southern, Western, Northern blots), cell culture and related molecular biology assays.
