Houghton College invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track appointment in the Department of Biology at the assistant or associate professor rank starting Fall 2020. The successful candidate will complement faculty expertise and contribute to existing biology curricula (e.g., pre-health, exercise science, environmental biology).
Responsibilities include teaching undergraduate courses within the field of expertise, contributing to the first-year biology sequence and general education curriculum, developing and maintaining a line of research suitable for undergraduates, and advising students.
Required qualifications include a PhD in biology or related field by the beginning of the appointment, an interest and willingness to support the online offerings of the college, and the ability to help students form respectful attitudes and interactions with people who differ in abilities, attitudes, and cultural experience, with sensitivity to factors that affect our own assessment of others.
Preferred qualifications include experience teaching at the undergraduate level and online.
Other important qualifications for this position include a commitment to excellence and creativity in undergraduate teaching, a mature Christian faith, and an ability and willingness to integrate their Christian faith into teaching.
