The Department of Psychiatry within the University of Michigan Medical School is seeking an experienced, positive, highly motivated, and organized person to work with a growing research team. The Research Area Specialist Associate will work with the principal investigator and other research team members to efficiently carry out a variety of quantitative, qualitative, data management, and general research activities related to implementing and evaluating mental health evidence-based practices in community settings.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
Manage project databases related to study participants and data collection
Create and update electronic surveys used for data collection using Qualtrics
Perform data cleaning and create databases from electronic survey data
Track study participants and monitor completion of data collection
Develop and implement data quality control measures
Enter quantitative and mixed-methods (qualitative) data into databases
Organize and maintain study documents and databases
Monitor and appropriately manage communication between participants and project staff
Assist with the creation of PowerPoint presentations and research posters
Attend meetings with investigators and project staff
Assists in preparation of state and federal reports
Assists with preparation of publications (e.g., perform literature reviews, summarize data findings, etc.)
Perform additional research duties as assigned
Bachelor’s degree with a background/coursework in public health, psychology, social work, sociology, economics, or related fields
1-3 years of research-related work experience
Previous experience with qualitative and quantitative research methods, including survey research
Experience with computerized data entry instruments, statistical analysis software, and data management experience
Strong interpersonal skills
Able to manage time, organize and complete multiple tasks and meet deadlines
Able to work independently and work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders
Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs (i.e. Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint) and G Suite applications
Well-developed writing, editing and formatting skills
Exceptional attention to detail, and excellent written and oral communication skills
Master’s degree in a health related field is preferred
Previous experience with Qualtrics and other survey data collection tools
Previous involvement in the publication process
Interest in working in mental health research
Knowledge of quality improvement and management best practices
Background in implementation science/research
