Manages the daily operations and maintenance of the structural research laboratories and related facilities in the Civil and Environmental Engineering Department. Provides technical and administrative support to the facility users, ensuring compliance with relevant safety standards.
Operate and service hydraulic, electromechanical, pneumatic testing equipment as well as laboratory fabrication and heavy lifting tools and equipment.
Fabricate and assemble specialized test fixtures for small and large scale testing.
Assist students with specimen and fixture fabrication/preparation.
Oversee the upkeep and repair of laboratory tools and equipment.
Oversee the maintenance of the laboratory facilities; coordinate external maintenance vendors.
Develop and implement standard operating procedures for laboratory tools and equipment.
Provide training to individuals regarding the safe and proper operation of equipment and instruments; ensure safe working conditions in the laboratory.
Maintain training records of all equipment used.
Identify opportunities for improvement in laboratory operation and organization.
Perform other job duties as assigned.
Associates and 5 years experience
Requires the ability and knowledge for analysis and interpretation of procedures, policies and practices attainable through specific education and/or training programs in a specialty or technical field. Advanced vocational or electronic skills or a basic knowledge of a professional field is required. An Associate's degree or certification/licensing in a technical specialty program of over 18 months and up to 3 years duration are characteristic of this field.Requires a minimum of five (5) years of directly job-related experience.
