A postdoctoral position is available to work in a multidisciplinary research team focused on the development of a universal vaccine for influenza. The project will part of a research program associated with the Nanovaccine Institute as well as the departments of Veterinary Microbiology and Preventive Medicine along with the Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering. The project will be conducted in collaboration with faculty at the University of Iowa as well. This is a five-year funded project by the National Institutes of Health.
The responsibilities of the position will be to optimize the delivery and host immune response following vaccination. The candidate will work closely with collaborators in the design and development of a polyanhydride nanoparticle vaccine encapsulating specific recombinant proteins from the influenza virus. The project will include the use of both mouse and ferret models of influenza virus infection as well as sophisticated analyses of the host immune response. The individual will work closely with graduate students, technical staff and faculty. There will be an expectation that the individual will be involved in analysis of data, preparation of presentations and manuscripts as well as developing grantsmanship skill.
Required Minimum Qualifications:
PhD in Immunology or Chemical & Biomolecular Engineering or a related field
