Applications are now being accepted for a Postdoctoral Associate in Evolution Education in the BEACON Center for the Study of Evolution in Action at Michigan State University (MSU). This position involves working as a member of an interdisciplinary team of scientists and educators, led by Dr. Robert Pennock, to test educational interventions with the Avida-ED digital evolution educational platform to improve student understanding of evolution and the nature of science. The successful applicant will play a major role in overall project research and management, working closely with the team to test educational interventions aimed at improving understanding of evolutionary concepts and the nature of science at MSU and other institutions across the US. The postdoc will work with the team on studies to analyze data to assess and improve the effectiveness of these interventions. The postdoc will also help organize and lead professional development workshops for instructors to be held at MSU and elsewhere. Candidates should have an earned doctorate in a biological discipline, biology education, philosophy or science, or statistics. Experience in discipline-based STEM education research, including conducting interviews, managing data collection, coding and analysis of qualitative and qualitative responses is desirable, but not required. This position is for 1 year, with possible renewal contingent upon funding. Starting salary will be in the range of $48 - 54K, depending on experience.”
