The Audiology Technician works under the supervision of the Audiologist to assist with the newborn infant hearing screen program, by providing hearing screen and documentation of results.
Works under the supervision of the Audiologist to assist with the newborn infant hearing screening program by providing hearing screens and documentation of results
Screens infants for hearing loss using otoacoustic emissions (OAE) and/or automated auditory brainstem screening (AABR) technology
Assists the Audiologist with filing, data collection, or other clerical responsibilities as directed
Participates in team meetings and process improvement activities
Understands and responds appropriately to critical and sensitive health situations
Assists the Audiologist in coordinating the process of the newborn hearing screening with staff in the Birth Care Center, Women's Hospital (floors 3, 4, 5),NICU and NSCU
Communicates effectively and within the boundaries of a technician regarding the outcome of the infant's hearing screening
Assists the Audiologist in documenting and compiling data required by the Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) for the newborn infant hearing screening (NIHS) program
Required Registration, Licensure or Certification
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) verification course, as specified in policy
Preferred Education or Experience
College level course work in speech Pathology or Audiology
Previous experience in audiology, speech, or Healthcare related field
