The Department of Biological Sciences is soliciting applications for a full-time tenure track position at the rank of Assistant Professor in the area of Anatomy and Physiology. This is a nine (9) month academic position with a teaching load of six courses per year (three courses each semester). Teaching responsibilities will include teaching lectures and labs for anatomy and physiology courses at the undergraduate level. The successful candidate must be committed to excellence in teaching. The candidate will be expected to develop research projects with undergraduate students and mentor senior thesis projects. In addition, the position involves related duties such as student advising, assessment, continuing professional development, university committee work, and departmental duties.
Minimum Qualifications 1. PhD in Anatomy and Physiology or related field, or MD. 2. Minimum one year teaching experience (TA experience is acceptable) of lectures and labs at the undergraduate level. 3. Strong communication skills 4. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary team
Preferred Qualifications 1. Independent teaching experience with undergraduate levels from freshmen to upperclassmen 2. Experience in mentoring of undergraduate student research projects. 3. Ability to teach Exercise Physiology 4. Substantial knowledge about human physiology and molecular aspects of human health 5. Experience teaching writing skills
Essential Duties The ideal individual must be committed to excellence in teaching. Responsibilities will include teaching a full-time load of courses in the Department of Biological Sciences, mentoring research projects for undergraduate students, and engaging in student advising, assessment, professional development, and university service.
