Reporting to the Managing Director of Professional Education at HGSE, the Market Development Manager leads three major, ongoing initiatives in service of PPE's goal to develop new audiences and content orientations for existing HGSE content and programming (e.g., corporate and organizational learning, parents and other family educators, health and human services organizations, education innovators and entrepreneurs, etc.). Primary responsibilities include:
Generate market insight around demand for particular content and current offerings in new audiences. Identify specific constituencies with which HGSE might effectively engage. Identify learning and development needs of the field in relation to HGSE faculty research/teaching/content, the current and future opportunities and challenges in particular sectors, potential adaptations of existing content, and establishment of vehicles for effective, high-quality professional learning.
Develop and facilitate working groups to define potential HGSE offerings in 'adjacent possible' market spaces. Facilitate faculty-led, field-informed examination of ways in which HGSE can and does meet the needs of learners and markets adjacent to existing constituencies. Facilitate exploration and development of recommendations for new program foci, design elements, venues, regional deployments, funding and sponsorship relationships, etc. to reach newly identified and viable audiences to extend HGSE's impact within and beyond the education sector.
Facilitate pilot programming to test potential markets for HGSE research, programming, products, and services. Building on the results of working groups, work with HGSE faculty and PPE staff to design and market exploratory new offerings in the form of programs, products, and services to select, strategically important audiences. Lead the evaluation, review, and revision of programming to enable successful, long-term engagement of viable markets in which learners benefit from HGSE's professional learning programs, products, and services.
Manage and track market development activities including impact and return-on-investment. Collect and analyze new-market development data across all current and potential PPE program portfolios in close collaboration with both program management and marketing staff. Report on progress in building new and sustaining existing programming through activities.
HGSE is a diverse community of learners, teachers, and employees who are passionate about changing the world through education and striving for maximum impact in the field of education.
