An ophthalmic photographer provides clinical and research related diagnostic medical images that are used by ophthalmic personnel in managing patients with various ocular conditions. Multiple camera/imaging systems are employed in order to capture the required data.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities:
Color retinal fundus photography.
Retinal fluorescein angiography.
Slit lamp photography.
Intravenous injection of sodium fluorescein and Indocyanine Green dyes.
External clinic and operating room photography.
Ocular Coherence Tomography (OCT).
Ocular Coherence Tomography Angiography (OCT-A).
Front desk coverage, patient service responsibilities.
Manage digital images and files, i.e. burning CD’s, electronic transfer, etc.
Participate in research related investigative studies requiring protocol specific imaging.
Acquire and maintain photographic certifications from various ophthalmic reading centers participating in clinical research.
Minimum Qualifications (mandatory):
High School diploma or equivalent.
Prior experience in patient photography, including color retinal fundus photography and retinal fluorescein angiography.
Special knowledge, skills, and abilities:
Requires solid knowledge of ocular anatomy.
The ability to work closely with patients in a clinical setting.
Knowledge of basic and general photography.
The ability to work independently at Wilmer satellite locations.
Technical qualifications or specialized certifications:
Certified in CPR.

During the Influenza ("the flu") season, as a condition of employment, The Johns Hopkins Institutions require all employees who provide ongoing services to patients or work in patient care or clinical care areas to have an annual influenza vaccination or possess an approved medical or religious exception. The pre-employment physical for positions in clinical areas, laboratories, working with research subjects, or involving community contact requires documentation of immune status against Rubella (German measles), Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Varicella (chickenpox), Hepatitis B and documentation of having received the Tdap (Tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis) vaccination. This may include documentation of having two (2) MMR vaccines; two (2) Varicella vaccines; or antibody status to these diseases from laboratory testing. Blood tests for immunities to these diseases are ordinarily included in the pre-employment physical exam except for those employees who provide results of blood tests or immunization documentation from their own health care providers. Any vaccinations required for these diseases will be given at no cost in our Occupational Health office.
