Rutgers University-Newark, an urban, public research university and anchor institution, located in Newark, New Jersey, a city of promise, is seeking an Assistant Dean III for the Undergraduate school of the Rutgers Business School (RBS). Reporting to the Associate Dean in the Rutgers Business School, Undergraduate-Newark. The Assistant Dean position supervises the job functions of student counselors and the program coordinator for students' services. The Assistant Dean has primary responsibility over the first and second year student college transition with particular focus on student retention programming, advisement, and coordination of AACSB assessment. The duties of the Assistant Dean III include but not limited to; -Responsible for developing, implementing, and evaluating retention programs, policies, and services in the following areas: academic standing, judicial affairs, student life, and course offerings. -Recommends policy, procedures and long-term goals for student retention and assessment. -Develops and oversees the implementation of programs that help to increase retention through student satisfaction and success. -Solely responsible for creating, conducting and evaluating Student Success Workshops and coordination of AACSB accreditation (which includes assessment of learning goals, administration of ETS Major Field Test, and the UG assessment reports). -Manages other duties as assigned throughout the year demonstrating his/her capability to learn new information, understand it and use that information to effectively create positive change. -This position will require evening and weekend hours and occasional travel to New Brunswick. Minimum Education and Experience:
Requires a master's degree with a minimum of five years of experience in higher education. Must be able to multitask and handle a diverse range of responsibilities.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
-Must be detailed oriented and must have excellent verbal and written communication, public speaking, organizational and planning skills. -Must have excellent interpersonal and computer skills (including data management and assessment). -Proficiency in various computer programs (Office Platform, Accuplacer, RUTADMIN, and Image Now), as well as knowledge of the university audit systems and sources of assistance. -Must be able to work evenings and weekends. -Travel to New Brunswick for professional development, training, workshops. -Strong problem solving skills needed daily and must be able to manage multiple tasks and interruptions. -Must be able to work with faculty and staff at all levels.
