Position Summary: This position requires working closely with staff and students at the Azrieli Graduate School to ensure regular and effective communication, efficient registration, and access to relevant technologies to allow smooth functioning of the department and its programs. It also requires establishing and maintaining communication and relationships with alumni and the larger Jewish education community, and presenting the work of Azrieli to the larger world.
Review, process, and finalize all admission applications for graduate education programs. including scheduling interviews, reading essays, and sending out correspondence throughout the admission procedure.
Attend evening/weekend recruitment events
Respond to admission inquiries
Coordinate meetings with prospective students and faculty
Organize new student orientation
Issue admissions letters and scholarship award notices
Student Tracking and Support
Manage registration for each semester including basic advising, tracking student registration, interface with students, Dean, and finance department as needed
Provide orientation to incoming students in both in-person and on-line programs
Support on-line teaching and learning through liaisons with students, faculty and IT department
Support departmental Canvas courses including managing enrollment, troubleshooting for faculty and students
Support departmental distance learning and distance meeting initiatives through facilitation of web conferencing
Maintain in-house spread sheet for program progression of every student
Maintain in-house spread sheet of alumni contact information
Communicate information as needed to current MS students, Doc Students, and alumni
Update/Maintain Banner Database, Canvas Course Management Systems
Review academic progress of all MS students each semester, note red flag concerns and record faculty comments for student support
Provide technical guidance for Canvas courses
Coordinate electronic portfolio grading
Facilitate social media dissemination of faculty presentations and publications
Provide faculty and program coordinators with enrollment, registration, and grade reports as needed
Draft, edit, and disseminate monthly Azrieli Spotlight
Maintain eblast database of over 4,000
Maintain database of alumni and create alumni publications
Coordinate publicizing of events
Maintain social media presence for Azrilei
Answer and triage phone calls
Manage mail outgoing and incoming
Network with other YU departments as needed
Assist Dean and Department administrator as needed
Experience & Educational Background:
Masters in Jewish Education or related field preferred, Bachelor's degree required
1-2 years experience working in a professional setting and navigating complex demands is required
Skills & Competencies:
Demonstration of strong people skills, facility with technology especially LMS and higher education systems and on-line communication and learning platforms, and the ability to work as part of a team as well as take initiative are required
Familiarity with the Jewish community and the culture and mission of Yeshiva University
