The position will focus on studying voltage-gated potassium channel modulation of microglia NLRP3 inflammasome activation and inflammatory responses induced by HIV, methamphetamine and antiretroviral drugs alone or in combination in an NIH-funded project. Studies involve whole-cell patch recording from cultured microglial cells and brain slices taken from humanized mice.
Ph.D. in neuroscience or related disciplines with a strong background in electrophysiology (patch clamping) as evidenced by first-author publications. Knowledge and experience in neuroimmunology will be an asset.
