Position Description: Founded in 1945, the UCLA Samueli School of Engineering is recognized around the world as a leader in engineering education, research and service. UCLA Samueli has developed generations of rigorously trained engineers and has been the home for solutions to challenges in fields including energy, sustainability, healthcare, communications, transportation, infrastructure and information technology. Driving these efforts is the ability to raise funds that keep vital research and initiatives in motion and deliver on the School's promise to enhance engineering excellence in California and around the world. Under the supervision of the Senior Director of Development of the UCLA Samueli School of Engineering, the Associate Director of Development will be responsible for the identification, cultivation, solicitations and stewardship of major gift prospects in support of the School's mission and strategic plan. This will include travel to regions with large populations of UCLA Samueli School of Engineering alumni. This individual will engage high-level volunteers to provide community linkage to development programs and to assist with specific solicitations and other programmatic elements as necessary; serve as a liaison between External Affairs and one or more student facing or academic departments within the School and meet with faculty in priority areas to gain knowledge of research interests and areas of expertise; and represent the UCLA Samueli School of Engineering to the broader community. The Associate Director will establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with constituencies and identify prospects in relation to academic priorities; organize and conduct meetings of volunteers and donors designed to identify new prospective donors for private support; identify, grow and manage a portfolio of prospects; and maintain active awareness of individuals in the prospect pool at various stages of identification, cultivation and solicitation. In consultation with the Senior Director of Development and/or Senior Executive Director of Development, the Associate Director will strategically plan, prepare for and participate in solicitations at appropriate giving levels.
