Perform health physics coverage tasks in the area of radiological assessment and implementation of radiation safety requirements.
Perform radiation and contamination surveys of radiological controlled areas and radioactive materials at PPPL, using appropriate instrumentation and completing required documentation. Provide authorization to personnel to enter areas or to move or remove materials after survey analyses are completed. 40%
Provide health physics coverage for work performed in radiologial controlled areas including maintenance, facility operations, equipment removals, and equipment installations. 40%
Perform other health Physics tasks as assigned by the Healh Physics Management 20%
Education: High School Diploma
Experience: 5 years experience at a commercial nuclear power plant, labratory or medical facility, and/or DOE facility.
- Must work with sources f potential contaminated equiment and contaminated area.
- Ability to periodically lift up to fifty pounds.
- Ability to clim ladders and perform surveys on wallks, platforms, elevated areas, and potentially awkward locations.
Examples of specific job requirements are:
Climbing NSTX stairs to acess platform and perform surveys and routine job coverage (approximately 9 feet)
Access to cable trays at heights up to 15 feet.
Access (using ladders) to radiation areas at height exceeding 15 feet.
Periodic bending, stooping, craawling, kneeling, lifting, carrying ladders, and oushing heavy carts.
Frequent walking between buildings from C Site to D Site and within buidings.
Access to areas not accessible by elevators using stairs, which are two or more stories high
Must be capable of driving the HP truck (automatic) potentially loading and unloading equipment.
Lifting and movng of lead bricks to modify or contruct different sheilding configurations for various experiments and calibrations.
Moving by pushing or pulling full 60 liter liquid mitrogen containers (on weels)
