Senior Associate Director, Analytics and Strategy - Georgetown University's Office of Advancement
The Senior Associate Director, Analytics & Strategy leads the strategy and implementation of data and analytics for the Office of Advancement's Annual Giving team. He/she will develop and improve systems, processes, reports, and tools that will help the Annual Giving team effectively measure performance, make data driven business decisions, and accurately forecast growth.
The Senior Associate Director is responsible for overseeing Annual Giving's data and analytics team, and will serve as a bridge to Advancement Services colleagues to ensure ongoing data integrity and reporting standards and accuracy. The Senior Associate Director will lead data visualization and dashboard work from a functional and strategic perspective for university-wide Annual Giving.
The Senior Associate Director will be responsible for providing thought leadership in developing novel approaches to solving business problems, developing processes and standard reports to answer common questions, and staying up to date with the latest trends in both higher education business analytics, but also from private sector sales and marketing verticals. The Senior Associate Director will work with all members of the Annual Giving team, Advancement leadership, and other colleagues across the university, and reports directly to the Assistant Vice President of Annual Giving. The Senior Associate Director, in coordination with the Assistant Vice President, will have primary responsibility for liaising with internal clients, and will take a leading role in project management for the team. The Senior Associate Director is expected to possess and build upon an advanced understanding of applied data science to enable Annual Giving to continually enhance its business operations in support of its fundraising objectives.
The Senior Associate Director reports to the Assistant Vice President of Annual Giving and is a critical member of the Annual Giving leadership team. He/she manages at least two Annual Giving analysts who will help develop the data and analytics systems and tools, and provide all reporting and analysis support for the entire Annual Giving team.
The Annual Giving team drives donor acquisition and retention through traditional and innovative annual giving strategies, in-depth analysis, and strong internal partnerships. The team is comprised of three functional areas: data and analytics, marketing operations, and school and unit partnerships. The data and analytics staff provide regular reporting and program assessment, and conduct in-depth analysis that drives business decisions. The marketing operations team is comprised of functional experts who develop strategies for and implement marketing across print, digital, social, and phone mediums. School and unit staff work with academic and development colleagues, and the two other Annual Giving teams, to develop annual giving marketing strategies for their respective school(s) and/or unit(s).

Proficiency using at least one statistical software package, such as Stata, SPSS, Minitab, SAS/JMP, R. Preferably experience with forecasting and modeling
Knowledge of Advancement database/CRM systems
Completion of advanced-level coursework in mathematics, statistics, data science or operations
Basic theoretical understanding of principals of applied statistics
Advanced knowledge and understanding of data architecture and general knowledge of relational databases, including the ability to write queries in SQL
Demonstrated advanced-level understanding of the analytics domain of the Association of Professional Researchers for Advancement (APRA)
Adhere to ethical and confidentiality guidelines of the Association of Professional Researchers for Advancement (APRA)
Strong understanding of the donor development lifecycle and a demonstrated knowledge of operations practices of large fundraising and/or sales organizations
Desire to continually evolve knowledge and skills along with rapidly advancing trends in the field of data science
Ability to lead by example and through instruction, and a professional and collegial demeanor and ability to exercise diplomacy
Bachelor's degree required, Master's preferred
At least 4-6 years of experience analyzing data in the setting of complex fundraising and/or sales organizations
