The Departments of Biochemistry & Molecular Biology and Pathology at the University of Maryland, School of Medicine are jointly recruiting new faculty members with expertise in the general area of skeletal muscle and/or neuromuscular biology and/or disease. Successful applicants will be associated with our NIH-funded "Interdisciplinary Training Program in Muscle Biology" which has been in place for over two decades. Highly qualified individuals will be considered at the assistant or associate professor level. Successful candidates are expected to establish and maintain an active/funded research program, and participate in departmental teaching and service opportunities. The Medical School and Departments are highly ranked with respect to NIH funding, and the Departments provide outstanding laboratory facilities, competitive salaries and startup packages, and access to numerous core facilities. Applicants should hold a Ph.D. or M.D., have substantial research experience, and a strong desire to participate in an interactive, multidisciplinary and successful research environment. Candidates who currently have research funding (federal or otherwise) are preferred, but all candidates will be considered.
