The Office of Undergraduate Admissions functions to attract, review and admit the best qualified undergraduate students to the Irvine campus, ensuring both the excellence and diversity of the student body. The office is responsible for the many and varied programs relating to the undergraduate outreach, recruitment, selection, admission, transfer of credit, data entry for new and re-entering students. The office's primary responsibility is to select students from a highly competitive applicant pool in a process that is closely scrutinized for its fairness, equity, and legality by the public, media, and federal and state agencies. The office's goals include: cultivating and recruiting potential Irvine students through relations with high schools, community colleges, alumni groups and consortia throughout the State of California; the timely, accurate processing of applications and related data with the ability to retrieve data for all appropriate campus users; and effective enrollment management. In addition, the office strives to promote good public relations on behalf of the university. The incumbent actively participates in the undergraduate admissions comprehensive review process.
