PhD (or Foreign Equivalent). Three (3) years of full-time research experience to include at least one (1) year of research experience following the attainment of a Doctoral degree.
Preferred Qualifications :
PhD (or Foreign Equivalent) in Electrical Engineering or Physics. Demonstrated knowledge of semiconductor physics, physics of semiconductor devices as well as expertise in physics of semiconductor nanostructures. Experience in the design of semiconductor lasers, LED and detectors. Strong communication skills and experience in writing and editing technical manuscripts, including scientific papers and proposals. Knowledge of the device fabrication techniques and testing & experience in device integration.
Brief Description of Duties :
Stony Brook University has a need for a Research Scientist in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering. The incumbent will conduct research and develop, design and run research experiments and ensure that all research protocols follow the policies and procedures of Stony Brook University.
Conduct research and ensure that all research is appropriately conducted following the policies and procedures of Stony Brook University.
Conduct theoretical and experimental studies in the field of electrical engineering within the predetermined research scope and methodology.
Collect and analyze data including periodical/literature search and utilizing skills in related fields to analyze the collected data.
Lead/participate in writing of grants and the manuscripts of the publications in scientific journals.
Attend scientific conferences and meetings
Other duties as assigned.
This is a part time appointment. FLSA Exempt position, not eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA. Minimum salary threshold must be met to maintain FLSA exemption.
