The Department of Medical Physics at St Peter's Health Partners Cancer Center is seeking a motivated Radiation Oncology Medical Physicist with excellent interpersonal skills to join our current team of 3 Certified Medical Physicists, 3 Certified Medical Dosimetrists, a Physics Residency Program Director, and two Medical Physics Residents. The Department of Medical Physics Department based at St Peter's Hospital in Albany, NY and also provides coverage for Samaritan Hospital in nearby Troy, NY.
St Peter's Hospital treats approximately 60 patients per day with active SRS, SBRT, and GYN HDR programs. Equipment includes one Varian 21 IX with OBI, Protura 6 DOF couch and AlignRT, and one Varian IX SIL with OBI, fine beam isocenter, BrainLab ExacTrac 6 DOF couch and stereoscopic imaging. Sims are carried out on a Siemens 4D-CT scanner. Software includes Eclipse (v13.6), Oncentra, BrainLab iPlan and Multiple Mets, MIM, and Mosaiq R&V.
Samaritan Hospital treats approximately 20 patients per day and is scheduled to upgrade to Eclipse/Aria V15.6 with MCO, RapidPlan and Velocity, and a new Varian Truebeam LINAC in the coming months.
Additionally the physics department boasts a CAMPEP approved residency program in connection with McGill University that is currently in its 7th year. Our medical physics staff are expected to play an active role in the hands-on teaching of our residents, and our close affiliation with the McGill program provides our program additional educational stimulation and insights.
The ideal candidate will have:
Masters or Ph.D. Degree in Physics or Medical Physics
Passed Part 2 of ABR (or equivalent) Board certification exam in Therapeutic Radiation Physics
Strong communication (written and oral) and organizational skills
Experience with the equipment and software listed above
An interest in hands-on teaching of medical physics residents
