Job Description The Department of Humanities at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi (TAMUCC) invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor in the history of Asia and the world, broadly defined, to begin fall 2020. The preferred fields are modern East Asian, modern Southeast Asian, or Asian American history. The teaching load is 3/3. The successful candidate will teach upper division courses in Asian history, two sections of the candidate's preferred half of the U.S. Survey each semester, as well as undergraduate and/or graduate courses in the area of specialization. Candidates are expected to be quality teachers, scholars, and citizens of the academy as demonstrated through a variety of student learning outcomes, refereed publications, external grants, and through service on local and professional committees.

The Department of Humanities at TAMUCC offers undergraduate majors in History, Philosophy, and Spanish and a master of art's degree in History. The tenure-line History faculty teach at both the graduate and undergraduate levels. Our students and faculty take advantage of the university's location along the Gulf of Mexico and near the border to foster learning, and they draw on Corpus Christi's unique position in South Texas to encourage research and community involvement.
PhD in History. Advanced ABD considered; degree must be conferred at the time of appointment.
Experience with working in a comparative, transnational, or global context or specializing in the broader history of trans-Pacific and U.S.-Asia relations.
