Manages centralized computer servers and makes recommendations for purchase or upgrade of new computer hardware.
Maintain and update servers running Windows, OSX, and Linux, providing services such as Samba, Apple File Services, SSH, SFTP, FTP, Apache (including secure web services using SSL), Sendmail
Install and maintain MySQL database servers, including database user management and script writing for routine backups of data
Implement and maintain Booklog and Tessitura, retail systems, including user management and backups of data.
Install and maintain database servers.
Maintain grandfathered systems running older OS. Design replacement systems when possible.
Maintains user/groups on file/database/application servers.
Trains support staff for administration
Performs complex security control activities to prevent hackers from infiltrating campus information.
Researches, analyzes and addresses attempted efforts to compromise security protocols.
Applies IT security concepts to use applicable encryption methods.
Gathers, analyzes, and summarizes information and reporting to management regarding the negative impact on the campus caused by theft, destruction, alteration or denial of access of information.
Applies IT security concepts to selects appropriate response to serious security incidents.
Performs complex analysis to acquire, install, modify and support operating systems, databases, utilities and Internet/intranet-related tools. Design and implement effective back-up systems for LHS, which may include any variety of solutions.
Proposes and implements system enhancements (software and hardware updates) that will improve the performance and reliability of the system. (Should be increased, but not directed to do this work.)
Conducts programming tasks, such as Linux and Windows shell scripting, for server maintenance automation).
Plans, designs and implements networked systems.
Performs complex systems programming and systems support activities.
Managing network access and connections.
An IT generalist that has a broad skillset in business system design and management.
Must be able to communicate technical information in a clear and concise manner among varying levels in the organization.
Has thorough knowledge, skills and abilities associated with identifying systems-related issues and actions needed to improve or correct performance.
Has knowledge of the design, development and application of technology and systems to meet business needs.
Has skills associated with adapting equipment and technology to serve user needs.
Bachelors degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training
Salary & Benefits
This is an exempt, monthly paid position. Annual salary will be commensurate with experience.
