The Ernest Mario School of Pharmacy at Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey invites applications for a full-time, non-tenure track faculty position in Internal Medicine. The faculty member will hold a clinical appointment at Englewood Hospital and Medical Center located in Englewood, NJ. The Ernest Mario School of Pharmacy is recognized on all levels, local, state, national, and international, as providing one of the most challenging, dynamic, and satisfying programs of study leading to the Doctor of Pharmacy degree. Englewood Hospital and Medical Center (EHMC) is a leading provider of high-quality, comprehensive, and humanistic care serving northern New Jersey and beyond. Located just 10 minutes from the George Washington Bridge, this 352-bed community teaching hospital is nationally recognized for cardiac surgery and cardiac care, breast imaging and cancer care, spine surgery, orthopedic surgery, and maternity care, and is an international leader in patient blood management and bloodless surgery. Other areas of excellence include diagnostic imaging, offering a 3T MRI machine, a hybrid operating room, and other state-of-the-art technology. The hospital is a Joint Commission-designated Primary Stroke Center and holds disease-specific Joint Commission certifications in hip replacement, knee replacement, and spinal fusion. EHMC is an affiliate of Hackensack Meridian Health and offers training programs for students and professionals, including an internal medicine residency program. The medical center also serves as a training site for surgery, vascular surgery, pathology, emergency medicine, anesthesiology, and critical care medicine. The EHMC pharmacy department consists of 20 FTE pharmacists, 20 FTE technicians, 4 managers/administrators, and 2 pharmacy residents.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Applicants must have a Doctor of Pharmacy degree and must have completed at least two years of residency training or equivalent experience. Applicants must be licensed or eligible for licensure in the state of New Jersey. Board Certification in Pharmacotherapy by the Board of Pharmacy Specialties (BCPS), or other relevant board certification, is expected within two years of hire.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
This position is for a Clinical Assistant Professor with a specialty in Internal Medicine. The faculty member will collaborate with prescribers and other pharmacy specialists at EHMC to resolve clinical challenges in order to deliver the highest-quality patient care. In addition to their didactic and experiential teaching responsibilities, the faculty member would be expected to deliver clinical pharmacy services to the EHMC medical teaching teams, provide education/development to pharmacy staff, and serve as a preceptor and mentor within the pharmacy residency program. Other responsibilities would include oversight of the pharmacy department's adverse drug reaction monitoring program, interdisciplinary committee participation, policy development, creation and implementation of pharmacy clinical initiatives, and service as a general drug information and clinical resource to the staff.
