Postdoctoral Research Associate - Mathematics (Core)
Summary of Duties and Responsibilities:
Â The Department of Mathematics at Iowa State University invites applications for a two year postdoctoral positions, with an expected start date of August 16th, 2019.
These positions are supported by an NSF EHR Core grant focused on studying successful students of color in mathematics doctoral programs. This unique and holistic position will require project coordination and organization, while allowing the candidate ample time to engage in mathematics research with any of our faculty.
Duties include conducting research, participating in the research project activities, such as interviews, data collection, and reporting. There is also an expectation that the candidate will be active in one of our mathematics research groups including taking an active part in seminars and research related events of the group. This position has no required teaching.

Required Minimum Qualifications:
Â·Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Phd in Mathematics or a closely related discipline obtained prior to appointment date.
Â·Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Evidence of an understanding of and willingness to work collaboratively with diverse groups
Â·Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Demonstrated commitment to scholarship, with the ability to establish a viable research program
Â·Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Effective communication and organizational skills
Â·Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Research Experience in one of the following areas: Algebra, Analysis, Combinatorics, Data Science, Graph Theory, Linear Algebra, Math Bio, Partial Differential Equations, Probability, or Topology.
Â·Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Experience in or demonstrated interest in working with students from diverse backgrounds.
Â·Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching and mentoring students.
