The Department of Earth Sciences at The College at Brockport, State University of New York invites applications for a full-time, 10 month, tenure-track Assistant Professor of Meteorology to begin August 2020.
Major Responsibilities The successful candidate will be required to teach upper- and lower-division meteorology courses, and other supporting courses in the earth sciences as needed (specialization is open, but the candidate will be expected to teach upper-level courses in radar and satellite meteorology and physical meteorology); maintain a program of active research; supervise undergraduate capstone projects; engage in service to the department and College in terms of committee work, curriculum development, and assessment and evaluation; and, engage in scholarly activities, as well as attending college functions.
PhD in Atmospheric Science, Meteorology or a closely related field by time of appointment from a college or university accredited by the U.S. Department of Education or an internationally recognized college or university. Ability to support and contribute to an environment of diversity and inclusion. Ability to effectively engage faculty, staff and students in a collegial and collaborative manner. Demonstrated research experience in meteorology or atmospheric science.
Experience teaching at the undergraduate level. Experience in mentoring undergraduate research projects.
Department Description The Department of the Earth Sciences offers degrees in meteorology, geology, water resources, and earth science. The Earth Sciences' faculty are dedicated to teaching using engaged learning methods through laboratory and field experience.
