Assistant Researcher - University of California, Berkeley - Department of Physics
The Department of Physics at the University of California, Berkeley seeks applications for an Assistant Researcher to work in the area of Condensed matter Physics, with an expected start date in Fall 2019 or Spring 2020. This is a full-time, 100% appointment.
The position will be in the experimental condensed matter group in the Physics Department of U.C. Berkeley and Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory. The group focuses on study of the electronic properties of quantum materials in equilibrium and away from equilibrium and is working on the integration of a molecular beam epitaxy growth system to the ARPES chamber.
The job duties and responsibilities of this position include work on the design of the novel experiment, data analysis, sample preparation as well as keeping the laboratory and all the lasers setup in the lab fully functional. Supervision of PhD students and postdocs.
Basic qualifications (must be met at the time of application): Ph.D. or equivalent international degree.
Additional qualifications: (must be met by the start date of the job): Five to ten years of work experience.
Preferred qualifications: Experience in vacuum techniques, Angle resolved photoemission spectroscopy experiments and data analysis. Experience in molecular beam epitaxy and materials growth. Well experienced in papers and grants writing.
