Job Description Summary The Natural and Applied Sciences Department at Bentley University invites applicants for a tenure-track faculty position in the broadly defined field of bioinformatics/computational biology. We are particularity interested in applicants whose teaching and research experience centers within the human health domain with the understanding that potential synergies may also exist with our department's other core area of expertise of environmental sustainability. The business applications of these fields are of particular relevance to our institution.
We are looking for those with experience with the analysis and/or modeling of data sets associated with human health. This position requires a deep understanding of the open questions, analytical methodology and other inquiries associated with the study of genomics, proteomics, microbiomics, metabalomics and/or transcriptomics, with particular regard to the commercial applications of such research. Data mining and dynamic modeling would be core skills that would mesh well with the academic environment at Bentley and support the primary research interests of our department. Although the potential area of research is broadly defined, candidates with interests in any field of bioinformatics related to population genetics, medicine or public health will be considered. Experience in NGS sequencing analyses, a broad array of statistical methodology and/or epidemiology would be considered helpful.

Applicants must have a PhD in statistics/computer science/genetics/ biology from a regionally accredited college or university and a minimum of two (2) years' experience. She/He must be an outstanding teacher who can engage undergraduate students, most of whom are business majors, and perform innovative research in his/her fields of expertise. Teaching ability and experience should be demonstrable, with particular attention to the topics of general bioinformatics, health-related data analytics, biostatistics, genetics/epigenetics, genomics/proteomics and/or microbiomes. We will look favorably on candidates with a significant record of publication in peer-reviewed journals and those experienced and successful in the process of acquiring external funding for their work.
