Part of UTA's elite support team – Encryption process and application SME. Providing end-to-end technical advice, support, guidance and informal training to customers using hardware and software programs. Researches, evaluates and tests new technologies, hardware /software and makes recommendations to campus university based on findings. OIT / ISO liaison. Assists with inventory, compliance and IT procurements. This position works under the supervision of a technical manager. May work nights and weekends as needed.
Manage onboarding of new equipment on campus. Responsible for keeping logs of encryption room activities. Intermediate to advance troubleshooting, restoring of technical service and equipment problems by analyzing, identifying and diagnosing faults and symptoms using established processes and procedures. Resolve security vulnerabilities on university equipment. Resolving encryption tickets. Utilize server-based computer-management tools such as SCCM, JAMF, ADUC, NetDisco, IPControl and SecureDoc consoles in daily work routine. Manage Student Assistants (2-3 stundent workers) - Hire / Terminate student workers. Provide on-going supervision, and training to student workers. Scheduling and maintaining payroll of student workers. Users tools /software like When-to-Work, TimePro and UTShare for student payroll. Special Projects: a. Serve as a liaison between OIT / ISO and the customer. Assist's end-users with use of standard software personal computing needs. b. Assist departments with Exceptions. c.Maintain Seed Computer and Loaner inventory. d. Backup for departmental labs / Testing Center / Call center management (Creating and deploying images, setup printers, manage general day-to-day operational issues). Update ITSM logs and utilize server-based computer-management consoles in daily work (FDE console, ISO Bridge, SecureDoc, BOX console, Crashplan, SCCM, JAMF, Duo, Print Clusters, and Infoblox). Assist with testing of hardware, software and lab images. Assist with Pharos Print management – Application Support Team. Assist with test scantron scanning services. Performing other duties as assigned.
Associate’s degree in related field and one (1) year of related computing work experience; or the equivalent experience. The following knowledge, skills, and abilities are required: Prior experience with specific systems, equipment and software may be specified as needed by department. Knowledge of principles of computing and communications networks, and characteristics of computing hardware and software used in distributed environment. Ability to install and configure desktop computer hardware and software. Ability to install and configure basic data communications and or telecommunications hardware with some supervision with little supervision. Ability to assimilate, retain and utilize technical and applications-oriented information. Must be able to obtain Apple certification within 6 months. Must be able to obtain Dell certification within 6 months of employment.
Bachelor’s degree in a computer-related field or equivalent practical experience. Practical work experience with Microsoft Windows 7 and above OS and Applications, and Mac OS 10.X and Applications. Practical work experience in repairing PCs, Macs, Printers, and network connection issues. Excellent customer service and phone skills. Experience with web development tools used to create, maintain, and update websites. A+, Dell, Apple, HP, and Microsoft certifications a plus.
