Consolidate and analyze existing Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) data.
Optimize the acquisition and processing mechanism of OCT data for example development of a graphic user interface for data processing.
Develop methods to analyze 3D OCT data.
Validation of the OCT data with other techniques.
Integrate the use of artificial intelligence in the characterization of demineralization patterns, degree of porosity, interfacial gaps etc. from OCT data.
Manuscripts and Grant Writing (25%)
Conduct relevant experiments to gather data to secure research funding.
Perform data analyses, present summary of work periodically and prepare manuscripts of work for publishing in peer-reviewed journals.
Prepare data compliant with the grant requirement and assist in grant writing
Exploration of Other Optical Technique (20%)
Explore novel clinically-ready optical methods in the diagnosis of oral diseases in general.
Explore novel clinically-ready optical methods in the diagnosis of interfacial gaps
Service Delivery and Professional Development (5%):
Remain current and participate in continuing education and training opportunities related to University policy and best practices
Participate in department, college, and University events, meetings, projects and initiatives
Train new researchers (research students and visiting scholars) in the roles of experimenter and assistant.

PhD or equivalent in Computer Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Physical Optics or related field.
Substantial competence and experience in material and structural characterization techniques such as SEM, TEM, AFM, micro-CT and confocal microscopy.
Substantial competence and experience in hardware-software integration and artificial intelligence.
Research experience in medical imaging, such as optical coherence tomography (OCT), near-infra red, hyperspectral imaging.
Experience in 3D image analysis.
An understanding of dental tissue and dental biomaterials is highly desirable.
Experience in writing or assisting in writing a grant.
Able to work in a collaborative team environment and also independently and report in a timely manner to the supervisor
