Position Summary: Reporting to the Director of Sponsored Programs, the Sponsored Programs Officer serves as the primary contact person for faculty members when submitting grant proposals. Interprets regulations and guidelines of program funding for standard grants and prepares periodic reports for grant agency. Assists with pre/post award sponsored research activities, process improvements and development of standard operating procedures required for the submission, acceptance, management and closing of certain sponsored activities. Serves as the lead on pre-award applications. Participates in contract closeouts. Ensures compliance with sponsor terms, University policies/procedures and federal regulations and policies.
Primary contact person for all faculty submitting new grants proposals
Proposal Preparation: Assists faculty with the development and submission of grant proposals. Tasks include: Review of FOA rules and procedures, creation and maintenance of Cayuse records, preparation of proposal budgets, review of proposals for conformance to sponsor and university requirements, ensures PI is in compliance with research integrity requirements (FCOI, RCR training, IRB, time and effort commitments, etc.), obtains institutional approvals and signatures, submits proposals to agencies on behalf of the university
Award Acceptance: routes award notices to appropriate parties (Director of Sponsored Programs, Legal Counsel, Post Award). Returns signed award agreements back to agencies and files NOA materials in OSP document management systems
Prospect Research: Assists faculty and the Director of Sponsored Programs with the research and identification of new funding opportunities
