Reporting to the Director of International Student and Scholar Services, the incumbent will cultivate strong working relationships with key domestic and foreign personnel who have oversight and administrative responsibilities directly related to sponsored student programs, including foreign government personnel located within and outside of the U.S., personnel from U.S government and non-profit organizations and institutions, and foreign college and university personnel. This position will coordinate a variety of specialized programs and services designed to meet the needs of the sponsors and their students.
Serves as the principal point of contact for sponsors concerning graduate and undergraduate student admission and placement; the coordination of academic advising and course scheduling; tuition / fee billing and payment; U.S. immigration compliance; health insurance and accessing the student health center; and all other matters related to the students' well being and academic success. Collaborates with Global Programs on pre-arrival information and services, orientation and programming specific to sponsored students. Serves as DSO and ARO and interprets complex U.S. immigration laws, regulations and policies; provides immigration counseling to sponsored students and provides counseling and resources on all aspects of university life and acclimation.
In collaboration with campus stakeholders, develop and implement a strategic plan to identify, cultivate and significantly grow sources of highly qualified and fully-funded degree seeking students at UC Santa Cruz. Develop procedures and policies for working with sponsored students at UC Santa Cruz. Oversee budget for Sponsored Student Programs arising from the collection of the sponsored student fee. Conduct outreach and recruitment of sponsored students, travel both domestically and abroad to visit with key sponsors and develop strong connections.
The Division of Global Engagement (DGE) advances the university's teaching, learning and research mission by working collaboratively throughout the institution to promote global engagement and advance campus internationalization by increasing international mobility among students and faculty, promoting faculty engagement in international activities and developing strategic partnerships abroad. DGE interacts with campus leadership on strategic planning and initiatives to elevate the reputation of UC Santa Cruz globally. DGE units include Study Abroad, International Student and Scholar Services (ISSS), Global Programs and Global Initiatives.
