UCSC strives to embrace diversity in all its forms; it strives to be an inclusive community that fosters an open, enlightened & productive environment.
UC Santa Cruz is committed to research and undergraduate education that benefits the individual and the planet. Our main campus is situated on 2,000 acres of former ranch land among majestic coast redwoods and overlooking the Monterey Bay, and serves nearly 18,000 undergraduate and graduate students. While UC Santa Cruz is revered for its sylvan beauty, it is located just 30 miles from Silicon Valley, the world's most important and productive center of high-tech innovation. In Times Higher Education's 2018 analysis of the world's top 1,000 universities, UC Santa Cruz ranked third in world-wide research influence.
UC Santa Cruz seeks an experienced, highly motivated fundraising professional to serve as Associate Director of Development for the Baskin School of Engineering.
Under the general direction of the Baskin School's Senior Director of Development, the Associate Director will build a portfolio of major gift donors. The Associate Director will identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward high capacity individuals, build engagement of these individuals, create gift opportunities based on Baskin School priorities, and determine appropriate stewardship plans for significant donors. In doing so, the Associate Director will involve UC Santa Cruz Foundation trustees, Baskin Alumni Advisory Council members, other high-level volunteers, academic leaders, staff and fellow development officers in connecting these donors to the Baskin School, deepening their interest and involvement.
UC Santa Cruz has campuses and offices in Santa Clara and Scotts Valley, in addition to the main campus, offering a variety of office locations to support the Associate Director's fieldwork. The professional in this position will be joining the university's highly collegial and collaborative community of alumni relations and development professionals securing philanthropic support for UC Santa Cruz. The Associate Director's creativity, drive and fundraising accomplishments will have a significant impact at the Baskin School, and will be recognized by peers and campus leadership.
It is an exciting time to join the Baskin School of Engineering! Under the leadership of Dean Alexander Wolf, and home to the world-renown UC Santa Cruz Genomics Institute, we now have over 100 faculty conducting world-class research, and we are still growing. The Baskin School's commitment to teaching has led nearly one-quarter of all UC Santa Cruz undergraduates to study engineering, and we are training one-third of all graduate students. The Baskin School fosters an entrepreneurial culture; several high tech and biotech companies have been launched by our alumni and faculty, and approximately 65% of UC Santa Cruz's patent portfolio is based on the work of Baskin School faculty.
