The Department of Neurology at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seeks candidates for an Associate Professor position in the tenure track. Expertise is required in the specific area of imaging analyses of structural, diffusion, and functional human aging and neurodegenerative MRI; analyses of large genetic datasets; machine learning approaches to integration of deep datasets. Applicants must have a Ph.D. degree.
Teaching responsibilities may include mentoring graduate students and postdoctoral fellows in Neuroscience, and lecturing to medical students, residents in Neurology, graduate students in Neuroscience, and lectures and mentoring in other allied areas.
Research or scholarship responsibilities may include development of an independent research program in aging and neurodegenerative disease focusing on frontotemporal degeneration spectrum disorders that are concerned with human MRI structural and functional neuroimaging, genetic and epigenetic markers of aging and dementia, cerebrospinal fluid analyses, and histopathologic analyses, and the integration of these datasets; collaboration with other members of the Cognitive Neurology Division and Department of Neurology in allied studies of imaging, genetic, biofluid biomarker and pathologic analyses of aging and dementia, and collaboration with members of the Institute of Aging and Institute for Neurosciences; and leadership positions in multicenter consortia such as those concerned with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis and frontotemporal degeneration spectrum disorders. The successful candidate is expected to have a strong background in MRI imaging analysis and associated statistical analyses including machine learning and graph theory analyses, and a strong background in analysis of large genetic datasets. The successful candidate is expected to have a successfully funded research program.
