The laboratory of Dr. Ali Javaheri studies how bioactive lipids and lipoproteins mediate myocardial injury response, with a particular focus on cardiomyocytes and macrophages. We are currently working on a manuscript revision related to the HDL-associated protein apolipoprotein M, a chaperone for sphingosine-1-phosphate, and its role in myocardial structure and function. There is an immediate opening available for a motivated postdoctoral researcher to contribute to these projects, including the potential to be either first or co-author on papers that are in various phases of the publication process. Basic requirements include ability to handle mice, perform small animal procedures, and be highly proficient with basic molecular biological techniques including Westerns, RT-PCR, and cloning. Beyond this there are no specific technical requirements, but we will favor applicants with experience with lipids and techniques such as cholesterol efflux assays, fast protein liquid chromatography, and/or small bioactive lipids.
