This individual will support the Biomarker Core Biorepository of the Knight Alzheimer's Disease Research Center (ADRC). Responsible for assisting with laboratory duties in a clinical research setting. Performs routine tests with direction from supervisor, manager or higher level technician.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assists investigator or higher level technician with research studies, experiments and assays including collection of data, preparation of solutions and set-up and maintenance of equipment.
Assists in locating and retrieving frozen sample aliquot vials.
Transfers samples in between primary and secondary biorepository sites.
Maintains and regularly updates data research files.
Transfers data from historical Excel files to biorepository and/or database programs.
Assists with processing and aliquoting biological fluids.
Assures compliance with established safety procedures and maintains required documentation on laboratory and specimen conditions, including recording any variances from standard procedures.
Ensures lab conditions and equipment are properly cleaned and maintained in accordance with established procedures.
High school diploma or equivalent
Applicant Special Instructions:
Works in laboratory environment with potential exposure to biological, chemical and radioactive hazards. Must be physically able to wear protective equipment.
Customer service skills.
Well-versed in data entry procedures (comfortable working in Microsoft Excel) and ability to work with numbers and datasets.
Excellent oral and written communication skills,
Ability to learn new procedures quickly, handle confidential material, and troubleshoot.
Ability to lift sample racks (~25 pounds).
The hiring range for this position is $12.89 - $15.97 per hour.
