The incumbent will function as a Flow Cytometry Technologist I in a Unified Flow Cytometry Core Facility which equipped with 3 high speed sorters, 5 analyzers, an imaging cytometer and 2 innovative 48 channel analyzers. This individual will have primary responsibility for overseeing advanced flow cytometry analyzers, for maintenance and operation of instrumentation located across multiple physical sites. Additional responsibilities involve cell sorting and assisting investigators to run their own samples with the supervision of the Operational Director of Unified Core Facility. Other duties include independently performing daily and monthly instrument maintenance, maintaining laboratory records, ordering supplies.
The percentage of the time is about 80% on the analyzer related activities including instrument operation, oversight and user education, and panel design, and 20% on the cell sorter related activities including hands-on sorting and also records management. The candidate will have opportunities to develop educational workshops, and learn advanced computational flow cytometry approaches. T
his position reports to the Operational Director of Unified Core Facility. The applicant will have a unique opportunity to contribute to the vision of a core that serves over 300 investigators with >$150 M in NIH grants, and is poised for additional growth.
The applicant should be highly motivated, detail-oriented and able to prioritize multiple tasks. Sound judgment, strong analytical skills and exceptional interpersonal skills are a must.
A Bachelor's degree in biology or related field is required, laboratory experience or flow cytometry experience is a plus. Equivalent Relevant Work Experience may be substituted for degree requirement and vice versa.
