Under the general direction of the Senior Director of Events Management and Business Development, the Director of Alumni Events is responsible for the strategic planning, management and reporting associated with a vast portfolio of Alumni events, wide-ranging in size and scope. This individual will coordinate with Alumni staff, campus partners and volunteer leaders to conceptualize, develop and market events, taking into consideration goals, themes, audiences and alumni, development and university priorities. The Director of Alumni Events will manage all event logistics and partner with staff in creating proposals, timelines, event formats, guest lists, budgets, logistics, printed materials and follow-up. This individual will identify vendors and venues and negotiate contracts; research, develop and monitor vent budgets and reconcile expenses; track and analyze event statistics; recruit train and supervise volunteers; and act as day-of event manager. This position requires participation at evening and weekend events.
The Director of Alumni Events will also provide direct supervision to other Alumni Events staff, ensuring proper management of priorities as well as providing ongoing leadership, guidance and assessment. This individual will have an exceptional level of commitment to customer service and display a keen attention to detail. In addition, this position involves a high degree of self-management combined with a strong ability to work equally well independently and in a team environment.
