Job Description The Data Operations Lead role functions as the Subject Matter Expert and senior member of a team of Associates collecting relevant financial statement data for a growing volume of corporate entities. Ability to work with new and developing technology platforms, utilizing machine learning principles to develop improved algorithms for data capture.
Support the creation of a new team, and operational process to enable the capture, extraction and presentation of financial statement data;
The Data Operations Lead is expected to be a resource to the team by mentoring teammates and helping to resolve issues faced by peers including support with accounting, process and project related questions;
Suggest and help implement improvements to process and contribute to new projects including technology, accounting changes and methodology updates;
Ensure the transparent execution of the full operational business process within the team;
Input financial statements and other descriptive information into the prescribed model/platform for the identified universe of entities. This will include Income Statement, Balance Sheet and Cash Flow data, as well as data elements extracted from notes to the accounts, taken from the annual/interim financial statements of public and private entities;
Combine technology and human resource to implement an efficient and scalable process;
Work will include some manual spreading which is expected to be automated over time, requiring a highly detailed competency;
Lead the automation process in the areas of machine learning, data identification, data mapping and creation of rule-sets for QC/QA;
Support and assist in the identification of the automation of processes using technology and other tools to improve quality, timeliness and volume of output.
Leadership and Management
Provide operational direction to new hires and support to the Data Operations Manager;
Offer training and support to team members, improving the work product across the spreading operation;
Create and maintain spreading guides used by the operation to ensure clear, concise and uniform policies are preserved.
Standard Business hours for the location
BA or MBA (Accounting; Finance; or Finance concentration in Business, Banking or International Business disciplines);
Two years as Financial Spreading Associate or similar role;
Hands on experience spreading financial statement data and in-depth knowledge of corporate institution financial statements;
Knowledge of accounting/financial principles within the banking industry is also beneficial;
Superior attention to detail, analytical ability and problem-solving skills;
Good knowledge of MS office;
Capable written and oral English language skills, in addition to Chinese (Mandarin);
Good communicator with verbal and written skills, and an effective listener;
Organized individual who guides and inspires Associates in meeting objectives, and encourages team members to perform optimally;
Individual with confidence and passion for the role;
A respectful individual with leadership potential who will encourage staff to offer ideas about decisions that affect them.
