The Center of Intercollegiate at RIT sponsors 22 NCAA Division III sports for men and women. The University also offers Division I programs in the sports of men's and women's ice hockey. RIT is a member of the NCAA, Liberty League, the Atlantic Hockey Association and College Hockey America.

Organizationally positioned in the division of Student Affairs, the Center for Intercollegiate Athletics is committed to providing an outstanding student-centered athletic experience through the pursuit of academic and athletic excellence. We do so within the context of integrity and respect. The assistant women's hockey coach will join an exceptional staff who strive to create an unrivaled experience that fosters the intellectual, physical, social, and emotional growth of our student-athletes in order to prepare them for success as leaders in the global community.
Reporting to the head women's hockey coach, the assistant women's hockey coach is responsible for assisting the head coach with the planning, development and the supervision of the RIT Women's NCAA Division I Ice Hockey program. These responsibilities include assisting the head coach, but are not limited to, the following areas: recruitment of academically qualified and talented student-athletes, planning and supervision of practice sessions, preparation of game plans and game day coaching as assigned, player development programs, advisement/mentorship of student-athletes and maintaining a working knowledge and adherence with NCAA and league rules and regulations.
The assistant coach will assume leadership of the team in the absence of the head coach.
Provide support to the head coach in effectively recruiting qualified and talented student-athletes from a global perspective. Cultivate a good rapport with coaches and area scouts. Strategically develop a recruiting plan aimed at attracting individuals that possess the combination of elite hockey talent, exemplary character and are academically qualified hockey student-athletes to the University. Organize, plan and direct recruits on their campus visits. Possess an understanding of current NCAA recruiting rules and regulations. Monitor the eligibility of incoming first year student-athletes, while collaborating with the Athletic Department's compliance officer regarding status of these student-athletes within the NCAA Eligibility Center.
Provide primary support to the head coach with planning and implementation of team practice plans while providing a productive teaching environment during on and off ice training. On ice coaching will consist of: skill development, offensive and defensive systems, position drills, game strategy, penalty killing and power play. Involvement with video prep of up-coming opponents and video review of all games during season. Assist in making decisions on proper line combinations, defensive partners, power play and penalty killing effectiveness and which players will help us be successful.
Play an intricate role in assisting the head coach with game plan preparations and game day coaching. Provide analysis and feedback to head coach on observations before, during and after competition. Communicate with all coaches during game regarding individual and team performance, tactics and opponents.
Assist the head coach with on/off ice player development programs. Assist with individual player development skills and coordinate effective video use for individual and team development opportunities.
Assist the head coach with advisement/mentorship of student-athletes in all aspects of their student-athlete experience at RIT. Serve as a positive role model for the student-athletes at all times. Maintain effective communication with team members and utilize effective motivational techniques. Attend professional development opportunities while also representing RIT as a clinician/speaker.

Required Minimum Qualifications
3-5 years coaching experience (preferable at the college level)
Ability to effectively communicate, problem solve, react under pressure, work with female student-athletes and motivate.
Ability to foster relations with internal staff and student-athletes.
Ability to manage and maintain confidential and private information; uses confidential, sensitive and/or private records and information, protects information appropriately.
Effective interpersonal, written, and electronic communications skills, including the ability to convey complex information in accessible terms to diverse or multicultural groups.
Computer proficiency using software and enterprise systems appropriate for the complexities of the role and its functions.

Playing experience at the college level
Knowledge of Deaf culture, American Sign Language (ASL), or willingness to learn
