Job Description Description: This position is responsible for overseeing the Islander Housing program consisting of over 2,800 bed spaces. Supervises the management team in the coordination of housing facilities, residence life programming, safety and risk management initiatives, and marketing. Develops, maintains and oversees emergency procedures, training and drills. Acts as the Evacuation Director in the event of a hurricane or other emergency. Responsible for budget creation and management. Also facilitates off-campus housing referrals and public transportation services.
Oversee the Islander Housing program consisting of over 2800 bed spaces. Supervise the private management company to ensure expected outcomes are achieved. Serve as the university supervisor to eight professional staff, 40 Resident Advisors, leasing staff, maintenance personnel, and housekeepers.
Lead the department in the development and assessment of the Islander Housing Strategic Plan incorporating facilities, residential life, and operational excellence.
Oversee planning, development and implementation of the Islander Leadership Seminar for prospective Resident Advisors.
Oversee the residence life staff in conducting educational and social programming to enhance learning and community development in an effective manner. Support RA selection and training. Act as a resource for all residence life personnel.
Address student and parent concerns and complaints regarding housing.
Oversee, create, and coordinate marketing campaigns to enhance recruitment and retention of students. Facilitate communication between privatized management company and University entities.
Work with management to develop rental rates, budgets, assignments, leases and policy issues. Work with the management company to plan long-range capital expenditures. Conduct an annual comparative analysis of rent. Chair Housing Policy Committee. Collaborate with Community Outreach to coordinate summer camps and conference groups needing accommodations.
Oversee, develop, and maintain emergency procedures, training and drills as it relates to fire, weather or other emergency. Act as the Evacuation Director in the event of a hurricane or other emergency. Coordinate emergency housing and transportation and evacuate with students to an off-site location. Stay with the students until the emergency is ended or they are dispersed to other locations to ensure their physical needs are met while away from campus.
Identify and address transportation issues through RTA bus services. Communicate services to the students through print media, websites etc. Assist students with off-campus housing needs. Work with community properties, as appropriate, to meet student needs.
Assess the effectiveness of all components of the Islander Housing Program through CAS program reviews, satisfaction surveys, and assessment of student learning. Complete compliance reports and all assessment reporting.
Supervise the Administrative Assistant for Islander Housing and Engagement Initiatives.
Serve on university councils, committees, and working groups. Perform other duties as assigned.
Ten (10) years of related experience with experience supervising staff.
Additional education may be considered as a substitution for the minimum requirements to include:
Master's and eight (8) years of experience
Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
Excellent written and verbal communication skills to be able to communicate effectively and be able to work as a team member.
Ability to work some evenings and weekends.
Master's Degree in Higher Education, College Student Personnel, or Business.
Three (3) years full-time experience working in a University housing setting.
Leadership experience and visionary skills.
Experience designing, implementing and assessing programs.
