Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Technical Assistant to work for the Environmental and Occupational Health Sciences Institute (EOHSI) within the Clinical Research and Occupational Medicine Department. Under the direction of the Senior Research Associate, the Technical Assistant will assist in conducting human subject research studies. The Technical Assistant will recruit, screen, and schedule subjects in accordance with Rutgers’ compliance standards as they appear in the RBHS Corporate Compliance Policy, Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest Policy.
Recruits and consents study subjects both by telephone and in person. Maintains a record of subject participation.
Will be trained to conduct testing (EKG, spirometry), collect specimens (exhaled breath), and process specimens (blood, urine, exhaled breath).
Conducts study procedures (height and weight measurement, blood pressure, spirometry, EKG, and specialized testing).
Assists with ongoing data entry and management for human subjects’ studies including recruitment tracking, data quality checking, and data cleaning.
Orders supplies and maintains a supply inventory.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree in a Biological, Environmental, or Public Health related field.
Must have experience in working with the public.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Must be proficient in Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access).
Fluency in Spanish required.
Experience in human subjects research preferred.
Experience in a clinical setting preferred.
Some local travel (NJ) will be required.
