About the Job The purpose of this position is to assist in the research of Dr. Greg Beilman in the Department of Surgery. This position will assist in data collection in both small and large animals, data collection in a clinical setting, data entry, assays and experimental preparation and tasks as assigned.
Specific duties include:
Data collection (60%) â— Collects raw physiological data (sample procurement) according to the protocol, while observing experiments/surgical operations for hours at a time â— Provide technical assistance to senior staff before and during experiments/surgical operations â— Become capable of evaluation and handling animal conditions as needed according to protocol â— Help with clinical protocol data collection as needed
Data Management (25%) â— Assisting with data entry and detailed records of experiments and procedures
Research and Development (10%) • Conduct back ground literature search on relevant topics including current methods and reagents • Establish and maintain a working knowledge of the principles behind daily work. • Perform periodic literature reviews.
Additional duties (5%) â— Assist with ongoing R&D operations as time allows and as assigned by supervisor â— Other duties as required
The hourly salary range for this position is $15.45-$21.29.

Required qualifications: â— High school graduation or equivalent with some science courses and two years of experience in relevant academic field and work experience may be substituted. â— Must be able to stand at a laboratory bench or hood for extended periods of time and lift up to 40 lbs. â— Must be able to work flexible hours as needed by project.
Preferred qualifications: â— Experience with Microsoft Office applications. â— Experience with small and large research animals â— Experience using the following equipment is preferred: spectrophotometer, centrifuge, microscopes, biological safety cabinet, autoclave, incubators, pipetman, electronic pipet, digital balance, pH meter, etc.
