Job Summary: Under the direction and supervision of a Physical Therapist, this position will provide a full range of rehabilitation services designed to restore patients to their optimal functional capacity. This position's duties include, but may not be limited to, communication with the Physical Therapist regarding patient status and treatment plan; implementation of modalities; manual and exercise based treatments within the scope of the PTA's practice in accordance with the PT's treatment plan; supervision of aides in patient care; collection of data and patient information; completion of all required documentation and billing in a timely manner; assistance in patient registration/scheduling duties as needed; and maintenance of a clean work area.
This position is a 100% 11 month partial year career position, which is subject to up to a 1-month furlough period between mid-June and mid-September at the discretion of the Supervisor based on the needs of the SHCS Physical Therapy Department. There is also the possibility of a 1-week hard closure of the Student Wellness Center between December 23rd and January 1st.
Physical Demands: -Lift/assist in moving patients.
-Ability to demonstrate appropriate exercises/stretches to the patient.
Work Environment: -This position is subject to pre-placement screening provided by Occupational Health Services. Pre-placement screening will consist infection control testing that includes blood tests for TB screening and other infectious diseases and may include a physical exam, provided by Occupational Health Services, given at no charge to the applicant. This is done to meet Federal, State and University requirements.
-Position may, at times, require employee to work with or be in areas where hazardous materials and/or infection diseases are present.
-Position requires signing a statement of understanding of the Dependent Adult/Elder Abuse Reporting Requirement and UC Davis' Child Abuse-Employee Notification Requirement.
-UC Davis is a smoke and tobacco free campus effective January 1, 2014. Minimum Qualifications: -Possess a current California Physical Therapy Assistant License.
- Ability to perform physical therapy procedures and modalities based on patients' needs.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision to exercise judgment related to documentation and patient related treatment issues.
- Experience with utilizing computers, scanners and software, including patient treatment databases/electronic health records, practice management and e-mail.
- Current CPR certification or within 3 months of employment.
Preferred Qualifications: - 2 years of clinical experience with a minimum of 1-year in Orthopedic and/or Sports Medicine Physical Therapy.
