Department: STUDENT HEALTH & COUNSELING SERVICES - 068070 Department Description: Student Health and Counseling Services (SHCS) provides primary care, mental health, urgent care, laboratory, pharmacy, optometry, health education and counseling services to registered UC Davis students. SHCS serves approximately 300 patients per day during the school year. The mission is to provide campus health and wellness resources that enable students to successfully achieve their academic goals and life-long wellness. SHCS has approximately 160 staff including managers, senior professionals, allied health professionals, clinical and administrative support staff, student employees, interns and post doc residents. SHCS is accredited by AAAHC (Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care), IACS (International Association for Counseling Services), and APA (American Psychological Association). Job Summary: Under direction of the Quality Improvement/Risk Management Director, this position performs a wide-range of high-level professional, technical, investigative, analytical and administrative duties in support of the Quality Improvement/Risk Management Department and Executive Management Team. Work is performed independently with decision-making responsibility and judgment. Responsibilities include: 1) departmental expert on initial and re-credentialing; appointment and re-appointment processes; privileging, proctoring and peer review processes; 2) committee analyst for Credentials Committee, Peer Review Committee, Clinical Quality Committee and Clinical Integration Workgroup; 3) departmental resource on accreditation readiness, 4) advanced knowledge of regulatory bodies to serve as an authority on credentialing and privileging matters for committee chairs and department heads; 5) interpret and implement compliance to new regulations; 6) create, maintain, and monitor a well-organized data management system 7) participate in quality improvement and other projects with QI/Risk Management Director, Medical Director, and/or committee chairs.

Work Environment: -This position is a critical position and subject to a background check. Employment is contingent upon successful completion of background investigation including criminal history and identity check. -This position is subject to pre-placement screening provided by Occupational Health Services. Pre-placement screening will consist infection control testing that includes blood tests for TB screening and other infectious diseases and may include a physical exam, provided by Occupational Health Services, given at no charge to the applicant. This is done to meet Federal, State and University requirements. -Position may, at times, require employee to work with or be in areas where hazardous materials and/or infection diseases are present. -Position requires signing a statement acknowledging requirement to report child abuse (CANRA) and requirement to report suspected abuse of dependent adults and elders. -UC Davis is a smoke and tobacco free campus effective January 1, 2014. Minimum Qualifications: -Three to five years experience working in a medical staff office, credentialing verification organization, college health administration, or a related executive-level office setting. -Knowledge of credentialing standards of Accreditation Association of Ambulatory Healthcare (AAAHC), and/or The Joint Commission, and/or NCQA. -Computer experience working with advanced features of Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Medical Practice Management System, calendar software, electronic mail and computer database programs. -Advanced analytical and problem solving skills to perform complex and confidential issues and work independently and making sound judgments. -Writing and proofreading skills. -Experience using and navigating complex web-based databases. -Knowledge of medical terminology.
Preferred Qualifications: -Certification from NAMSS, either CPCS or CPMSM -BA or BS degree -Organizational skills to work on multiple complex projects with time-sensitive deadlines; ability to organize and prioritize workload. -Communication and interpersonal skills to work with a diverse group of individuals. -Experience with HIPAA/FERPA laws, confidential and sensitive information. -Experience working independently and as a team. -Knowledge to interpret University and departmental policies and procedures, and other regulatory guidelines.
